The Toyota RAV4 is a small SUV that's a top performer in its segment, but we know it has some stiff competition from other brands. One of the RAV4's biggest competitors is the Nissan Rogue, and today we're going to compare the two and prove why ours is the one you want to buy or lease!

How does the 2018 Toyota RAV4 compare to the 2018 Nissan Rogue?

Performance

Both the RAV4 and Rogue has a 2.5L engine. However, the RAV4 has a little more horsepower at 176, versus the Rogue that has 170 horsepower.

Towing

If you plan on towing you're going to want to choose the RAV4 over the Rogue. On the base 2.5L engine, the Rogue only tows up to 1,102 pounds, whereas the RAV4 can tow up to 1,500 pounds. The RAV4 also has a trick up its sleeve: the Adventure trim (pictured above). This trim was an all-new addition for 2018, and one of its biggest highlights is its towing capabilities. On the FWD version you can tow up to 2,900 pounds, but with the AWD version you can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Not bad!

Size

Both the RAV4 and Rogue fit up to five passengers and have comparable cargo specs, though the RAV4's 73 maximum cubic feet of cargo space beats the Rogue's 70 cubic feet. If you're helping with an event and need to fit in one or two more boxes, the RAV4 has you covered, whereas the Rogue will have you making two trips.

And the winner is...

The Rogue is no slouch in the small SUV segment, and it definitely nips at the RAV4's bumpers, but our competitor has the slight upper-hand!
