The small SUV segment appeals to a wide range of shoppers and our favorite is the Toyota RAV4. It's stylish, has a solid reputation, and its consistently attractive incentives make buying or leasing one a great choice!
Since we know it's not the only small SUV you can choose to take home to Howell or Old Bridge, we're going to compare the 2018 Toyota RAV4 to one of its rivals: the 2018 Nissan Rogue.
Price
- The six Toyota RAV4 gasoline trims start at $24,660 and go all the way up to $35,000. The hybrid models start at $27,385 and top out at $34,258.
- The Rogue has a starting price range of $24,800 to $31,180. There are four gasoline options. The two hybrid versions start at $26,020 or $32,380.

Performance
- Focusing on gasoline models, the RAV4 has a 2.5L engine with 176 horsepower. Most trims have a 1,500-lb tow rating, but the Adventure trim can tow up to 2,900 lbs in FWD and 3,500 lbs in AWD!
- The Rogue's 2.5L engine has 170 horsepower, which isn't that far off from the our RAV4'S, but the towing does lag. Its max towing is 1,102 pounds. If you want to tow extra toys around Englishtown or Matawan, there is a good chance the Rogue won't be up to the task.
Safety
- Toyota Safety Sense is standard on the RAV4. With it you'll get the following technologies: lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection, and dynamic radar cruise control.
- The Rogue does have a respectable lineup of standard technologies. It has blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking.
Dimensions
- If you need the entire backrow of the RAV4 you'll have 73 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, compared to the 70 cubic feet on the Rogue. If you need to squeeze one more box for a cross-town move or a suitcase in for a weekend getaway, you might be more frustrated with the Rogue.
